Welcome to Golden Water Harvesting

Rainwater Harvesting is a very simple concept where the rainwater from the roofs of buildings is filtered and collected in a storage tank.
The storage tank can be either underground or over ground.
Typically a domestic system is underground with commercial and agricultural systems located over ground.
The water in the storage tank is re-used instead of drinking water.

Here are some applications and relative information:

Commercial & Schools
Reduce water charges: Water charges are set to increase substantially in the coming years. Therefore, it makes sense to utilize the rainwater that falls on your roof as it can substitute up to 50% of the water that you use in your school or business  and pay for via the meter. Furthermore, businesses can save on the double because they are currently being charged both for water supply and for waste water produced.
Hotels, Bars, Restaurants
Potable water tanks sutable for an effective back-up supply in the event of mains supply being reduced
Garden Irrigation
Possibly retro-fit plumbing to toilet cisterns and numerous other uses
Factories
Flushing toilets, cooling for industrial machinery, wash plants, etc.
Garages
Flushing toilets, carwashing forecourt washdown etc

Water Security of Supply issues:
There have been increasing instances where the ability of mains water systems to adequately supply the population it serves has come under significant pressure. As a result, one can no longer assume that mains water by itself is going to be able to cater for one’s water needs. Effective water management planning will require an effective back-up system when mains water is under pressure and rainwater harvesting is the most environmentally friendly back-up system available.

Domestic
Emerging Planning Regulations: Provision for rainwater harvesting is increasingly being considered as a factor in reviewing planning permission applications, especially in areas that have a high flooding risk and areas that are facing increasing water shortages. As mentioned above rainwater harvesting can help to successfully mitigate both these issues whilst helping you to be successfully granted planning permission in the process. At the new build stage toilet cisterns and utility area can be plumbed in advance for connection to a rainwater harvesting installation any time in the future

Reduce water charges:
Water charges are set to increase substantially in the coming years. Therefore, it makes sense to utilize the rainwater that falls on your roof as it can substitute up to 50% of the water that you use in your home and pay for via the meter. Furthermore, in some counties in Ireland households can save on the double because they are currently being charged both for water supply and for waste water produced.

Agriculture
The JFC Pioneer Water Tanks: Over the last few years, the issue of water supply has become a significant concern for farmers. In the last year alone, farmers throughout the country have experienced severe water supply shortages due to lack of pressure, intermittent water supply and various climatic challenges. Furthermore, with the onset of water metering, farmers’ water costs have risen substantially with bills amounting to thousands of Euro in many cases. As a result, farmers are looking at options available to minimize water supply costs whilst also ensuring a more dependable water supply. At the recent Ploughing Championships in Athy, JFC launched their new Pioneer Water Tank range which are ideal for a variety of agricultural and commercial applications. JFC Pioneer Water Tanks are available in a variety of sizes from 6,000 gallons (27,600 litres) to 55,000 gallons (250,000 litres) and are designed with the farmer in mind as the tanks can be used for: providing drinking water for animals, wash-down, spraying, horticulture etc.

JFC Pioneer Water Tanks are a superior design and quality to any other tank available in the European market and they are approved to WRAS British Standards for storage of drinking water. The tanks are made from Zincalume steel which is 4 times more corrosion resistant than traditional galvanise and are lined with a heavy duty 5 layer Aqualiner.

In addition, JFC Pioneer Water Tanks have a fast installation time-frame and are very cost effective, with an investment cost from as little as 39 cent per gallon of water storage. Furthermore, the JFC Pioneer Water Tanks come with a 10 year warranty and is the only large storage tank available on the market that is designed so it can be installed  onto a concrete base or with a sand-pad base keeping installation  costs to a minimum.

JFC Pioneer Tanks offer great flexibility because they can be easily dismantled and moved to another location if necessary. Overall, JFC Pioneer Rainwater Harvesting Tanks provide excellent value for money as an ideal solution for farmers and commercial enterprises wanting to invest in future savings on water charges.

JFC Over Ground UV Stabilised Polymer Tanks
These tank systems are available in storage capacity from 5,400 Litres up to 10,000Litres
For increased storage capacity, tanks can be inter-connected with a simple connection kit.
A full range of pumps and accessories are available to suit the required system.

  1. I had a rainwater harvesting system installed by Golden Rainwater in Sept 2011 after an 8 year ordeal with well water. Everything was stained - clothes, washbasins, bath, shower and toilets; an unpleasant smell in the water necessitated using bottled water for brushing teeth; having to get white laundry done away from home, etc. I became concerned about the chemicals and processes used to purify well water to a not even acceptable level.

I would advise anybody living in a rainy area such as Leitrim to choose rainwater harvesting from a health & safety point of view.

Gerry Golden delivered excellent and courteous service - highly recommended

  2. Hello,
I wonder if you still have contact with Gerry? I had a system installed by Gerry in 2014 and unfortunately Gerry has gone out of business since and I cannot find anyone to service the system. I have a problem with the system at the moment and am at a loss as to what to do.
If you knew someone I'd appreciate if you could send their name. Thanks
